Hey everyone! Happy Sunday evening to you! I love Sundays but get a little sad that the weekend is coming to an end:( It’s pathetic since I only work part time, but I guess I like having the days off with Josh. Anyway, Josh stopped by the grocery store on his way home on Friday and got some gluten free chocolate chip cookies. I’m not one to ever indulge, I don’t say that to sound perfect, but I just get sick from treats so it’s rare.

So, Josh cooked them in the oven and they were great! I always think about that book “if you give a mouse a cookie” When I eat cookies. I know so strange.

Side glass of almond milk is a must;)

Josh tweaked his back surfing on Friday (poor guy) but the weather has truly been incredible in California. I mean, we are pretty spoiled year round, but it has been great! So we were back at the beach Saturday to hang and say hi to everyone.

PREGNANCY UPDATE:

I went to the baby Doctor on Friday and our little boy is growing right on track! She said, I looked great and she could find his heart beat so fast with the doppler because I’m still so thin. She wasn’t concerned about my thinness. The little beebs and I are healthy:) His heart rate was so fast and tons of movement. I may be in for a non stop wild child! Say a prayer!

Fun Facts:

6 months pregnant

Total weight gain: 10 pounds

Food Cravings: Fruit! Grapes, Apples and Pears

Food Aversions: Anything Sauteed! Blech!

Exercise: Lots of walking and weights this last week

Mood: Generally happy, I haven’t been too emotional this pregnancy. ( I’m so glad for Josh’s sake)

I can’t think of anything else. You can always ask if your curious about something:)

Have a great sunday evening! Rest up for Monday!

Nighty Night

Tank top. TjMaxx Pants Forgot the store in Santa Barbara somewhere. Shoes good ole Target

The weather has been absolutely delightful here in California! I just can’t get over it! So warm!!!! We took these photos after 5PM and I was still in a tank top!!

Hold on to your hats and glasses! This post is quite a doozy !!

Some exciting news!!!

I get my photoshop tomorrow!!! I’m so excited! lets hope it comes so I’m not a big fat liar. I got (PhotoShop Elements)!! I’m a photoshop newbie so we figured this would be a good start. Anyone have any advice???

Also, I’ve been getting a lot of questions about my detox. Like I said before I’m doing this for very specific health reasons. I’m a very healthy eater by choice, because I like to eat healthy, but I could tell some things were off. To start,

I was breaking out more then usual.

My hormones were getting a little wacky

I suddenly formed a tumor in my breast (it’s benign ) Praise God!

but things were getting a little wonky town over here. So I decided to look into the tumor that was growing and all the other issues I was experiencing and the (Natalia Rose Detox for women) just appeared at the right time. I’m not looking for a quick fix, I’m doing this for a lifestyle change for my health!

For one, I have a thyroid problem, I’ve been taking thyroid medicine since I was 16, shortly after my Dad died. Not sure if my hormones starting getting out of whack from the stress of his death or the combination of poor eating habits mixed with stress just happened to throw off my endocrine system. What’s the endocrien gland/sytem? Click here . So one of my goals is to try and heal my thyroid. No wonder it didn’t know how to function right! I ate processed foods and loads of soy. Especially since soy was s huge crutch for me in a vegan diet. I’ve completely cut out soy for (me) because of my thyroid and made the full switch to homemade almond milk. I’m also starting my day with green juice for breakfast with our juicer and having usually a raw salad for lunch and a raw/cooked dinner. I’m eating quick exit foods to help eliminate the toxins in my body from years of a standard American Diet. Here’s s blip from Natalia Rose’s website on quick exit foods. I know this isn’t for everyone but my health at this point needs this. Now food combining I’m not sure I fully believe in that aspect but I’m following the food combining for these 30 days and then I will continue to eat this way minus worrying about food combining.

(here’s info on why juice fasting is so important to someone with health issues going on like me)

Info on quick exit foods. Cleansing foods:)

Hope this helps answer some questions:) I have SO much more to share. This is only tapping the surface.

Things I’ve noticed so far.

The bummer beginner stuff

The first couple days being off of sugar, (even sugar from fruit, since I was over yeasted)  I could feel serious withdrawals! Kinda scary since I’m not really a sugar person, I’m more savory. Just goes to show I was eating WAY too much fruit on top of the excess sugar from everyday life.

Then I was down right grumpy, tired, sad.

I realized just how addicted to food I was. Like I said, I eat./ate extremely healthy, but I still had lots of room to improve.

Now the good.

I’m on day 7 and I feel great!! My breakouts are almost all gone.

Im incredibly happy about these foods. Not a grumpy pants about it anymore

I have so much energy! I can hardly contain all this energy. I feel as though I could run a marathon at every hour.

My thought process is unbelievably clear.

I sleep like a baby

I don’t have this intense desire to eat on the hour every hour, Which I used to do. Now I just eat two meals. (if you know me, Marian does not eat just two meals)

and the kicker?! My tumor is feeling smaller. Say wha???? Crazy, I’m going to give this tumor lots of time to heal because it took LOTS of time to grow.

Now the good yet unimportant stuff

Feeling Leaner

Any cellulite I had is diminishing by the moment.

Skin is glowing.

Well, that was a lot to take in! There will be more to come! Don’t hesitate to ask any questions.

Josh has been a great support as well. He’s been behind me 100% and is so kind to be my photographer as well.

It’s no Surprise I LOVE CHRISTmas!

I also LOVE my husband, That’s no surprise either.

Well, Remember (this time, at the thrift store?) oh you don’t? That’s ok, Josh did! I fell in LOVE with this vintage chalk board and chicken wire decor! I LOVED it and he remembered! I love this guy! Why must you be so awesome to me all the time?! To top things off when I came home from work it was already hanging on the wall. Pretty sure he’s a keeper;)

Also, no surprise with my new found love of ( baby cakes) my beautiful Mommy bought me the first baby cakes book to go along with my second baby cakes book. Ah all is complete.

I’m one happy girl:) Josh also got me another vintage gem but that will have to wait. Any guesses?????

I’m feeling so grateful, blessed and cozy this holiday season<3

Much love and happiness

The only thing to top of the day was donuts of course!

Here I was again with yet another Men’s prayer group and I went off to bake as usual while I forced, I mean kindly explained that my parents should watch the movie (Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead ).

(So I got my hands dirty baking, and baking I did! These are a( Baby Cakes Delight ) Did ya know this Baby cakes book is vegan and Gluten Free? = perfection in my book!

I might have wanted to scream mid way through because I was in a time crunch and I had never made donuts before, but you know, all things work out, for the most part;)

Carob Coconut Blobs (raw, vegan, GF)

I decided before my parents came up I wanted to make a raw dessert since they have jumped on the juicing band wagon with Josh and I, and their really into eating vegan. Their not Vegan but dipping their toes in, so it’s pretty fun around these parts in our food adventures!

So Carob Coconut Blobs it was:)

I made these from (this recipe) But I used almonds in place of the coconut because I was out of coconut from (these cookies)

They were so worth it! Plus I enjoyed the almonds in these blobs. So head over to Casey’s blog to make these blobs!

We are having a wonderful time with my parents. We went to a favorite restaurant on the Central Coast that’s all Organic. They of course loved it. Saturday and Sunday have been filled with Christmas shopping, Church fellowship, christmas plays, dessert potlucks, and so much more! So blessed! We are off today to head over to the little Danish town to see Christmas decor, gather craft goodies and eat at a favorite health food store for lunch:) More pictures to come! For sure more fashion posts on the way. I’ve embarrassingly been Christmas shopping for myself! Pretty sure the stores count on us to do that!

Anyone else christmas shop for themselves???

Oh, one more thing! You can’t get rid of me:() My mom got me the cook book (Baby Cakes)  and donut pans! Can’t wait to share all the goodies with you.

Muffins!!! Who doesn’t love these puffy clouds on your tongue?!

You don’t? oh, well come again tomorrow for my thrifting experience.

When I was a young girl, (ahem, High school) I would eat the poppyseed muffins my Mom would buy from the costco pack to take with us to the river every weekend. And EVERY weekend the same scenario played out. I would cut the muffin in half in hopes it would help my portion control. No such LUCK my friends! Once on my lips I just had to eat all of it! IT was all mine! muhahahaha. Oh sorry…. Anyway, Tummy ache would ensue, and once the poppy seed muffins were all gone it was onto to the chocolate muffins. Chocolate has always been a second choice in life. (the horror)

So I leave you with simply beautiful moist moist moist (hopefully you don’t hate that word) vegan blueberry muffins. They can be gluten free too. See note below

Yields 8

Ingredients

1 1/2 Cup Flour

1/2 Cup Sugar

2 tsp Baking Powder

1tsp salt

3/4 Cup Milk

1/4 Cup Oil

1 Cup frozen blueberries (or fresh)

Mix dry ingredients, Then add wet ingredients and fold in frozen blueberries

spray muffin pan with olive oil, or use cupcake liners and pour muffin batter into pan

Bake at 375 degrees 25-30 minutes. Poke toothpick through center to make sure they are fully done.

These really are soo MOIST!

Gluten free note. if you want it GF simply replace flour with GF flour and use 1 tsp baking powder and add 1 tsp xanthun gum.

I’ve never tried them gluten free so this is simply a guess, but I think it will work:) IF you try it let me know!

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

(Gluten free or Vegan or both)

So, i’ve been diagnosed with a slight gluten intolerance. I eat vegan, although I don’t call myself vegan. Are you following? ok, good neither am I. So, where does this gluten thing leave me? Well gosh I just don’t know. Gluten= feeling crumby and gluten + eating vegan = too much thought into food for me, especially with my food past . So, for now, although I don’t like labels or diets ( I prefer eating for health) So avoiding gluten when I can and eating a mostly plant based diet is where it’s at for me, for now:() Fewsh!

Onto cookies. These are yummy and requested a lot in our household and I don’t mind one bit.

Not a chocolate fan? Add raisins. Not an oatmeal fan, eh maybe you can find something that wets your whistle next post.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

Vegan or Gluten free or both

(provides 12-14)

  1. 1 Cup gluten free all purpose flour
  2. 2 1/4 Cups Gluten free rolled oatmeal ( or regular oatmeal if gluten is of no concern)
  3. 1/2 tsp Xanthun gum
  4. 1/2 tsp Baking soda
  5. 1/8 tsp salt
  6. 8 Tbsp Earth Balance or 1 stick of butter ( room temperature)
  7. 3/4 Cup brown sugar
  8. 3/4 Cup granulated sugar
  9. 1 egg (or 1 flax egg)
  10. 3/4 tsp vanilla
  11. 1/2 cup chocolate chips (more or less depending on preference)

Preheat oven to good old 350 degrees. Mix flour, oats, xanthun gum, baking soda & salt

In a separate mixing bowl mix together butter and sugar until blended. Then add egg, vanilla and mix in chocolate chips.

spray cookie tray or use parchment paper & roll dough into cookie balls and bake 10-15 minutes ( or until the edges are just golden) I’ve learned you really don’t want to over bake these cookies.

Enjoy!

IMG_1059.jpg

I made these cookies on Sunday when my family had a dinner get together and they LOVED them. I of course only told them after they ate them that they were gluten free. I don’t mean to be sneaky but sometimes I just wait to speak up about what exactly is in my baking.

God Bless everyone! Yay for It being almost Friday<3
